We are seeking a skilled and experienced full-time senior Android developer to join the Vivint Smart Home core apps team to develop our well-rated mobile applications. We're a fast-paced and collaborative team of skilled developers with a passion for innovation, architecture, efficiency, standard methodologies, delivering consumer value and peace of mind. We deliver customer-facing applications that enable our customers to access and control their smart home, and the devices which power it, in new and exciting ways.

Who you are:

You're a mobile software engineer with significant experience developing world-class Android applications. You work hard to play hard and take pride in delivering clean code. You have a passion for solving hard problems elegantly and efficiently, both alone and collaboratively. You’re well-versed in traditional software design patterns but also embrace new ideas and emerging technologies. You are skilled at navigating production codebases, refactoring and improving them to help drive innovation. You are fulfilled when you've helped those around you to succeed and are considered an invaluable supportive technical resource and mentor to your peers. You are involved in the design and architecture process, engaged with fellow developers in continuous learning and comfortable with the ambiguity that occurs when you’re building new things. You love to work closely with your team to develop practical and efficient software development processes and practices and raise the bar on the software you create together. You enjoy collaborating with other engineers, product folk, and designers to create powerful, elegant products that deliver everyday value to consumers.

What you'll do:

  • Work in a fast paced, self-directed environment
  • Be a key member of an agile innovation team responsible for developing core mobile apps
  • Collaborate with product and design teams to build the ultimate Smart Home experience
  • Prototype new features and user experiences across all layers of our application
  • Help cultivate cross-team knowledge and evangelize best practices, design patterns, tooling and technologies
  • Participate in "Innovation Week" hack-a-thons, exploring new technologies and ideas, and acting on personal projects


Need to have proficiency with:

  • Android SDK
  • Kotlin
  • Java

Nice to have experience with:

  • Common software architectural practices and principles (MVC, MVP, MVVM, Clean, SOLID)
  • RESTful services
  • Junit, Mockito
  • Dependency injection
  • Accessibility frameworks, voice over and dynamic fonts
  • Working with a cross-site team

Nice to have (but not necessary) some experience with:

  • Swift and XCode
  • Golang

Minimum qualifications:

  • B.S. in Computer science or related field or equivalent work experience
  • 5+ years professional Android development experience or equivalent
