The Role:

Vivint is currently looking for a Senior QA Engineer to join our Corporate Systems team. This role will support Vivint's internal software systems including customer data management, billing and finance, reporting, sales tools, and other systems that keep our company moving forward.

We need highly motivated and skilled QA engineers who love solving complex problems and will take satisfaction in seeing their work simplify the lives of our employees and customers.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan and coordinate testing efforts that may involve multiple systems and QA resources
  • Create, execute, and maintain detailed test plans and test cases
  • Review design documents to ensure expectations are clear and testable
  • Work with Project Management to ensure items delivered by development satisfy business needs
  • Accurately assess risk level of code changes, and calibrate testing approach based on risk level
  • Validate, document, and assess impact and root cause of reported bugs

Requirements

Required Skills:

  • Creation and management of test plans, test cases, and test results
  • Experience testing REST web services and web applications
  • Deep understanding of software testing methodologies and techniques
  • Excellent troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills
  • Excellent time management and prioritization skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

The ideal candidate will also have:

  • High attention to detail
  • A basic understanding of programming, code, and logic
  • Experience with CRM and Billing platforms
  • Experience testing on mobile platforms (iOS, Android, etc.)

Required Experience:

  • 2+ Years’ professional experience in a QA role
  • Experience testing REST web services and web applications

What we’re looking for:

  • Plan and coordinate testing efforts that may involve multiple systems and testers.
  • Help promote quality throughout the Software Development Lifecycle by influencing product design, architecture, requirements, etc.
  • Help train/mentor other members of the QA team on best practices.
  • Create, execute, and maintain detailed test plans and test cases.
  • Review design documents to ensure expectations are clear and testable.
  • Work with Project Management to ensure items delivered by development satisfy business needs.
  • Accurately assess risk level of proposed changes, and calibrate testing approach based on risk level.
  • Validate, document, and assess impact and root cause of reported bugs.
  • Deep understanding of software testing methodologies and techniques.

  • Basic understanding of programming, code, and logic. (C# a plus)
  • Test automation experience is a plus.
  • A good understanding of Agile and Scrum principles is a plus.
