Software Development Manager Financial Systems

As Engineering Manager, you will provide technical and managerial leadership for the Financial Systems Engineering scrum team and also individually contribute as a software engineer. You will manage several direct reports including .NET and Salesforce software engineers and will be responsible for the design, development, maintenance, and support for large scale financial systems including customer billing, payment processing, and consumer credit/financing services and applications. Vivint Smarthome is a fast-paced environment and this position requires a strong collaboration with technology and business stakeholders to align on evolving priorities and emerging strategies to successfully execute on business and technology objectives.


  • Lead a team of skilled engineers who build and maintain software services, integrations, and applications
  • Hire, train, coach, mentor, and manage performance of engineering team on an ongoing basis
  • Manage the delivery of software solutions including integrations with internal and external systems
  • Prioritize, schedule, and track the team’s work. Collaborate with business partners, stakeholders, and product management to ensure that engineering teams deliver on business needs in a consistent and predictable manner
  • Own and manage the stability, availability and performance of applications and systems in a production environment. Lead team to deliver high system quality and uptime
  • Manage the on-call support rotation for your team and ensure effective and timely response to production incidents
  • Interface with the third party service providers and their support staff to build, improve, and support systems integrations
  • Act as a technical consultant for all major system changes and establish a culture of technical excellence within your team
  • Ensure change control processes are followed for all changes made to our production environment to maintain compliance
  • Foster innovation, productivity, quality, and efficiency within the team
  • Collaborate with other engineering and architecture leaders to ensure technical strategies, architecture guidelines and standards are created, updated, and followed
  • Manage onshore and offshore resources
  • Contribute individually as an engineer. Establish and maintain engineering standards and best practices



  • Team leadership, motivation, and mentoring
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with .Net Core, SQL/TSQL required
  • Experience with Entity Framework, Linq, RabbitMQ, Docker Containers, JIRA, Splunk preferred
  • Experience with these models and processes: Source Control & Release Management, Domain Driven Development, Micro-Services Architecture, Circuit Breaker Patterns, Web Services, Windows Services, Console Apps, Relational and Document-Based Databases
  • Strong communication and influencing skills. Proven ability to develop positive relationships with team members, functional business leaders, subject matter experts and peers to support objectives
  • Ability and passion to work with engineering and business teams in a “hands-on” way
  • Ability to lead, influence, and manage others in direct and indirect reporting relationships
  • Ability to analyze data, using a quantitative approach to problem solving
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic business environment and adapt to evolving priorities and requirements
  • Ability to build strong working relationships with both technical and non-technical leaders


  • 3+ years software engineering leadership experience. Engineering management experience strongly preferred
  • 7+ years software engineering, architecting and delivering technology solutions
  • Experience building highly-available services at scale. Public cloud (Amazon, Azure, Google) experience desired
  • Experience implementing new technologies into existing complex systems
  • Knowledge of software architecture and development methods and techniques
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic culture, respond to changing priorities and coordinate development of multiple critical initiatives
