The Role:

Vivint’s is seeking a Sr. Product Manager to drive the roadmap for our iOS and Android apps. As part of the Apps Vertical, you will be responsible for defining, driving, and shipping mobile app experiences that improve peace of mind for Vivint’s 1.5M+ customers.

What you will be working on:

As one of the product managers on the Apps team, you will lead your scrum team’s charge to create delightful smart home mobile app experiences. Your customers will be both Vivint customers, and other Vivint product teams. This means that you’ll define a consumer-facing roadmap for Apps functionality that spans all products (e.g. app navigation structure, automation features, the Activity feed, etc.), but also a roadmap that enables our other product teams to quickly and easily build great experiences into the app for their products (e.g. cameras, thermostats, locks, etc.).

You will use your past experience as a mobile apps product manager to define, measure, and optimize key success metrics for the Vivint app, with a keen focus on improving user delight and engagement. You will rely on your product management skills to drive complex projects from idea to concept and prototyping through development and delivery. The successful candidate must be able to find the intersection of consumer needs, technical feasibility, and business objectives, and then lead a cross-functional team to deliver against the opportunity.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Deliver delightful mobile app experiences that increase peace of mind for Vivint customers
  • Help define the overall Apps product vision, strategy, and roadmap
  • Monitor product performance; identify and drive opportunities for product enhancements
  • Conduct customer-centric, data-driven product discovery, including regularly observing customer interactions (sales, install, service, support) and conducting customer interviews
  • De-risk new product efforts through value, usability, feasibility, and business testing; measure and report results.
  • Work closely with other teams outside the Innovation Center to ensure your features are sales channel right, service ready, and business accretive
  • Create and manage the roadmap, backlog, and sprint plans for your scrum team in concert with the overall Apps product strategy
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams of designers, engineers and QA to ensure delivery against product roadmap
  • Communicate and align strategy with key internal and external stakeholders, managing expectations and shifting priorities as needed. Communicate product scope, risks, timelines, and dependencies.
  • Represent your product in formal executive settings and reviews.
  • Partner with the go-to-market team to prepare operations, marketing, sales, supply chain, and support product channels for launch
  • Lead by example and hold your team accountable to delivering outcomes the that matter

Who you will work with:

You will work closely with your scrum team (iOS, Android, and back-end developers, UX designer, and QA) to define, estimate, and deliver your product. You’ll also work closely with the Core Apps leadership team (including the Director of Product) to create product strategy. To deliver great experiences in the app, you’ll also need to work closely with the other product teams across Vivint to ensure the core app functionality is meeting their needs, and that they are delivering experiences in the app that meet our goals for consumer delight. These are just the folks you’ll be working with most regularly – as a product manager at Vivint, you will also have the opportunity to collaborate with product marketing, sales, supply chain, and other teams across the company.


What we’re looking for:

  • 3+ years of product management experience working on mobile apps. Preference for candidates that have product managed multiple apps for both iOS and Android platforms.
  • Demonstrated commitment to excellence in yourself and your teams
  • Experience conducting and analyzing customer and product discovery efforts (e.g. interviews, usability tests)
  • Strong relationships with your past engineering & design counterparts
  • Solution-oriented, open minded and positive attitude
  • Effective problem solving and analytical skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication across levels of the organization
  • Preferred qualifications
    • BA/BS in Computer Science, Engineering, Product Design, Business or a related field
    • Demonstrated experience defining and delivering a roadmap of features that improve user delight and engagement metrics
    • Experience running and analyzing A/B tests
    • Experience with scrum and JIRA
    • Demonstrated experience driving ambiguous issues to resolution
    • Demonstrated ability to multi-task and manage priorities, including multiple products
